I have a TV that I'm pretty sure is gaussed a while back. The colors are off and I don't know what to do about it.

  1. Manually degussing the set with a degaussing coil would be your best bet. Couple things to note though , if you have put speakers right next to your set, they can cause magnetic interference and may need to be at least a foot away. If this occured right after dropping the set, then the tube may be damged or the yoke may have slid back on the neck of the tube. If you have a solder gun(not iron but gun), try putting the coil end up to the tube with it on and move it in a circular pattern from the center out past the edge of the tube.

  2. You can purchase a Degaussing Coil and do it yourself.  Check out this website:

Sometimes the degaussing coils that are located around the front edge of your CRT do work as good as they should.  You could have a problem with a Thermistor that is in series with the coil.  If this Thermistor is open, your built-in degaussing coil will not function.
