  1. For a NY strip, I don't marinade since it's a tender cut of meat.

I do season it ahead of time a chile based dry rub.

However, just simple salt, pepper and a light sprinkle of garlic powder  would do very nicely, especially if you grill the steak.  The grilling adds that nice flavor by itself.

  2. Lime juice, garlic and olive oil.(not too much oil though, or you'll get flare-ups).

  3. Here is what I like to do sometimes.

Combine zest and juice of one lime with, 1 tsp.  each of chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, & pepper. And then 1/2 tsp. cumin & a 1/4 tsp. of cayenne. Pour over strip steak rubbing marinade into both side of the meat to coat well, allow to marinate in the fridge for at 1 hour. Then grill over medium high heat until medium rare. This can be served sliced into strips for burritos.

  4. 1/2 cup soy sauce

    1/4 cup white vinegar

1 tablespoon hot sauce(a fairly mild type like Texas Pete)

    1/4 brown sugar

Mix. Marinate overnight.  The vinegar will make the steak very tender.

  5. Marinate NY Strip?????   Ha!

Sprinkle on a little salt, pepper and garlic, then grill it.

Why ruin a perfectly good piece of meat?

  6. I don't.  Salt, black pepper, garlic.

    Why ruin it?

  7. Try this:   Argentinian chimmichurri marinade

I use for chicken alot but my South Am friends love it for steak

  8. Lawry's Baja Chipolte ... or sometimes, A-1 Texas Mesquite Marinade

  9. If you have a great piece of meat and good marbling. it really doesn't need much. I have a friend who taught me to put just a little bit of olive oil, salt and pepper on it. I use hickory on the fire and it makes for a wonderful steak. But, Penderys' makes a chicago steak seasoning that has wonderful mix with hickory flavoring if you are considereing the grill(infoor) or panfrying it. My old recipe was whiskey, brown sugar, vegetable oil, steak seasoning, pepper and let it sit for 20 minutes. That will give a mediocre piece meat a new future and if the marbling is not so good, skip the salt and use some tenderizer.

  10. Montreal steak rub

  11. Nothing . Just cook and season with salt and pepper.

  12. why would you want to ruin a great cut of beef like a NY Strip with a marinate?  A little salt & pepper is all you need and maybe a little butter if you insist.

For a cheaper steak, I use bottled italian dressing.
