How do you mark all messages as "read" in a particular group? How do they count "new messages"?

Even though I keep up with my groups on a regular basis, there are always many new messages and I cannot figure out how they determine what is "new" and what is not.

The New Messages are those posted to the group within the last seven days.  When you click on New Messages on the group's home page, it will take you to the Messages in chronological order with the first one being the most current message. All other messages listed outside the seven day range would follow in the same order.

You can mark messages as being read in your email program but Yahoo does not offer an option to mark them read on the group's site.
