  1. My ten year old son had an Egyptian Toad in a glass  aquarium. In that environment, we would put live crickets (large ones).  Over time, the toad died, but the crickets continued to live on and reproduced quite well ! The environment was perfect for the toad and as it turned out, the crickets thrived in there as well to the point were the crickets reproduced so much that we lost count of them all.

In that environment, we had tree bark from PetCo. The tree bark was hollowed out. The toad loved to sit inside it, while the crickets lived on it and under it. Also, we had a small ceramic dish full of purified water that the toad lived in, and it seemed to keep the humidity just right.  Also, we had a small leafy house plant triving in the soil.  The soil, by the way, was the stuff from PetCo called Forrest Bedding or Forrest Floor. We also provided a light source. The light was a fluorescent lamp. We loved turning it off at night, the crickets would chirp.

The crickets really really love fresh sliced apple and a table spoonful of oats. We would take one small apple, red or yellow or green, and cut it once with a handheld apple slicer, and drop all the pieces including the core into the enrivonment. But be sure to remove the slices after four days, to prevent mold buildup.  Also, put the oats in one corner of the environment, but the apple slices can be placed randomly around the environment. Also, be sure to put a screen mesh lid on the environment. Otherwise, the crickes WILL escape and you'll find them, eventually, around the house, dead! Oh, one other thing, the crickes love to hide under leaves and branches. So place a few fresh cut branches from a leafy tree such as a Ficus Tree. Be sure to replace the branches once they dry out and become cruddy.

The overall key to happy crickes, is right amount of moisture, so don't over water the environment, but if the environment becomes too dry, the crickets will die, so sprits the environment once every other day with a water spritser. But be sure to close the lid !

  2. Sorry, Bubba, but even I'm too big for that.
