They are very difficult to breed cause they are what you call

"Parasitic" which means after they breed.

The female lays her eggs another birds nest & takes no part in rearing the chicks. In captivity some people use society finches as foster parents for the Whydah chicks.

If you are just starting out with breeding finches this species is not a good first choice neither is the orange weaver.
