  1. For most stuff in the kitchen, baking-wise, the old adage:

    "A pint's a pound the world round".

    has served me well.  One dry ounce (weight)is roughly one fluid ounce (volume).

    If you're making something sweet, don't be afraid to go over.  If you're making something besides sweets, hold back a bit.  And always taste while you're making your stuff.  Imagine what the end product will be and adjust your flavor from there.

    It's easier to add more sugar if you need it, so go light and taste what you have.  You can always add more if you need it.

  2. There are 16 TBSP in one 8oz. cup.

    Therefore 1 oz. = 2 TBSP

  3. for dry ingredients you need to get a scale and weigh it out. if you use tablespoons thats a liquid measurement. that doesnt work!

  4. agree with jduds, get out the scale.  8 oz = 1 cup is for water only.
