How do you measure fist size?

Sonny Liston reportedly had a 15" fist. How is that measured? Cite a website for me to see as well.

Yes, Liston did have large hands, but more important is that once the fist was closed, using a cloth tape measure, wrap the tape from bottom of small finger base, up and around closed fist including the thumb, back around meeting the tape once again at the bottom of the small finger base. It's the circumference that is measured.
