How do you measure (roughly) 1 cup without using any measuring utensil?

  1. By definition, if you "measure" 1 cup, even "roughly", you are using a measuring utensil.

    So, unless this is a braintwister that has a clever answer that's not coming to me, I'd say you might be able to "estimate" 1 cup, but to use anything such as a scale or a ruler would be using a measuring utensil.  

    Gee, even cupping your hands is creating a measuring utensil!
