What is the unit of measurement that sound waves are measured in. do you think would happen to the sound if an object were placed in the path the sound was traveling i'm just asking i was watching the science channel and i coudn't really understand what they were saying

  1. There are quite a few instruments available to measure the acoustic energy of sound waves.  The most traditional unit of measure is the decibel.  Start with the reference.

    A boat moving on ocean waves gives you a reasonable mental picture of an object moving in a sound wave.  Measurements at the object are definitely influenced by the movement of the object.  Obstacles do influence the motion of sound waves.  The whole subject is acoustics.
