  1. certain shows are blocked on TV otherwise, i don't worry too much about it, for some reason it's always on spongebob...They only get 30 minutes of computer time per day unless they do extra chores for more time and lately, they haven't even wanted to be on the comp. I also have the parental controls set on the comp so they can only access certain websites. yes this site is blocked from them...

  2. One tv and the computer is in the living room. She does not know how to type but I do have all x*x sites blocked.

  3. We have a small, busy house.  The TV is in the living room, which everyone must pass through to get anywhere.  The internet-enabled computers are there and in the kitchen, where someone always is or will be soon, too.

  4. My daugter has a daily schedule.  She is only allowed 1 hour per day for phone, videos, TV and computer.  The rest are for chores, activities, reading, and homework.

As far as computer monitoring, she is allowed only 1 email account of which I am required to have the password to.  I have set up communication guidelines, (no foul language, only communicate with people you know, dont give out personal info, etc) and she follows them.  I monitor her chat log and emails from time to time.  TV is not so complex.  If I see her watching something inappropriate, we discuss why its inappropriate and she's not allowed to view the show again.  This is not a big issue since she is not in front of the TV for long periods of time anyhow.

There is also a TV and computer cerfiew.  She's not allowed after a certain hour.

  5. I lock my computer and all the kids channells on the TV. the kids have to ask for a PIN number for anything they want to watch/do.

  6. I am usually don't moniter my son while he watches tv, I can hear what he is watching but when it comes to the computer I am monitering him every few minutes and he only gets to spend a hour a day on the computer.

  7. There's only one tv, and they can only go in the tv room during times of the day when it's allowed to be on (in the summer, before mom's had breakfast and 1/2 hour in the afternoon; during the school year, just the afternoon).  I can hear the tv from the part of the house I'm generally in and of course I also am sometimes in there with them.  We have no cable; just a few kid-friendly dvds and network tv, of which they're only allowed to watch pbs (unless it's a special thing like the olympics).

The one computer the kids can use is in a common area where anyone passing through can see what they're doing.  It also has parental controls installed.

Two months a year we go "unplugged" and have no computer or tv at all.
