I want to have an illusion in my room that looks like a car falling thorught the roof. You would look up and just see, maybe the front corner of the car. It is proably hard to think of this but this is something I really want to do but have no place to look for help. Please let me know if you have any sugestions.

  1. You would need to go to an auto junk yard and buy a fender/headlight/grill or whatever is in pretty good shape from a car you like.

Then you would have a welder weld on some sturdy rings and then hang it from your ceiling, mounted up close so it looks like it is protruding from the wall/ceiling.

Look at this pic of Hard Rock Cafe in Atlanta.  You would only want probably half that much:

  2. Talk to a junkyard.

Buy just the front corner parts (fender, headlight, grill), cut them and s***w them to a piece of plywood. s***w the plywood to the ceiling joists.

OR: make a paper-mache mold of the front corner of a car, add real headlights and part of the grill. s***w to plywood, just like the other.

  3. I am certain that you have thought about the ceiling height in your room (can I guess 8'), and how much lower the car would need to be to create the illusion. I'm also certain that you have considered how much dead weight the ceiling has been engineered to carry.  Perhaps you will need to consider a plastic or fiberglass replica.
