Going from SBC/ATT Yahoo dial-up to Verizon Yahoo. Can e-mail contact list & portfolio be easily transferred or does it all have to be manually re-entered? Could not keep same user ID as old dial-up was a Prodigy.net

  1. David,

There are user IDs, and user IDs. When you switch Internet Service Providers (ISPs), your user ID for your old ISP (ATT) & for your new ISP (Verizon) may be different.

But your Yahoo ID doesn't need to be the same as your ISP ID. What you want to do, if you can, is to keep the same Yahoo ID. Then you don't have any problem about transferring your contact list or portfolio to a new Yahoo ID. (I don't know of any way to do that.)

I think you want to login to Yahoo with your existing Yahoo ID, from either of your ISPs. Then click on "My Account", which is usually at the top of your Yahoo page. Where it says "Member Information", click on Edit. Type in your new email address in one of the boxes labeled "Alternate Email."

You then want to make your new email address the primary one, and have it verified. After it's been verified, you can delete the old email address.

So basically, you keep your old Yahoo ID with its contact list & portfolio, and just change your email address. Hope this works for you.
