How do you move to a new place/state by yourself?

I have a whole apartment full of furniture and 2 cats and a car. I think i will be moving by myself. I cant drive the uhaul and car...unless i put the car on the back of the uhaul. but i will moving across the state of Ca so I am afraid to drive this big thing on my own. Also, I cant move furniture on my own. How do I find a reputable complany to help me move? How expensive is it? WHere do I put the cats?

  1. You can put the cats in a carrier in the car with you.  If you think it's necessary, you can get a mild sedative from the vet.

    As for the moving companies, Two Men & A Truck?  Ask friends & co workers who they have used.  Either way, check with the BBB (Better Business Bureau).  Also, if you choose a local company, ask for customer references.  Do they have an insurance policy in place in case of damage?  Make sure you go through the contents being loaded on the truck with them & get a copy of the pack list.

  3. I would consider selling you furniture on craigslist and buying new... unless it is really valuable. If it is not REALLY valuable furniture, you will pay as much to move it professionally as you would to buy new furniture when you got there. IF you must take all your furniture, then the least expensive route is what you said. UHAUL and tow your car behind. I sold all of my furniture, used a 5 foot by 8 foot UHAUL trailer... attached it to my car and drove across the country. I took a few key and personal pieces of furniture and packed the rest of the space with my other belongings.
