Question:

How do you naturally relieve constipation?

My mom has been using Metamucil, she constantly eats fiber, and she's using Polyethylene Glycol 3350. However, she continues to have constipation regardless of what she's been doing.

Would you recommend Chinese Tea "Dieters Drink"?

Any other NATURAL recommendation is helpful. Thanks.

  2. try prunes or castor oil.

  3. Prune Juice

  4. You can take Natural Magnesium caps 400 mg.

oxide, citrate & aspartate forms, need to take 2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon and then you can adjust to one and one it depends of your system, it only make you go naturally you are not going to get loose.  The company that makes them is call Natural Slim.  They are very good, you won't have to take anything else, believe it ,this will work. My web name is Dorada.

  6. Diet can both prevent and cure constipation so eat more foods rich in magnesium as magnesium will increase the production of hydrochloric acid in her tummy and thus aid in digestion..... the more fibre in your diet from fruits, vegies, legumes and whole grains, the softer and the larger the amount of f***s will be passed........  as she has diverticulosis she needs to be cautious to not eat foods containing small nuts and seeds (found in some breads, muesli and biscuits) as these small things can become trapped inside the bowel pockets.... seeds and nuts are very healthy though and you may still enjoy them if you take the time to grind them into a fine powder in a coffee grinder or food processer.... in a powder form they will not aggravate her condition and should help her by  boosting her dietary fibre.

Magnesium is needed in the human body for helathy nerves and muscle functioning and for heart health. Magnesium rich foods will aide in eliminating constipation problems for her..

Eat more foods rich in this wonderfull little mineral ie: leafy and green vegies, nuts and seeds, wholegrain breads and cereals and cold water fishes such as tuna, salmon, sardines and whiting.

Magnesium is also known as the antistress mineral and will help her deal with stressy situations better.

Also, eat more foods rich in Vitamin C as vitamin C is a natural laxative ie: oranges, lemons and limes, leafy and green vegies, tomatoes, potatoes and red and green capsicums. Vitamin C rich foods will also bolster your immune system and help in lowering blood pressure.

You may need to spend extra time in food preparation to grind wholegrains and muesli, grate vegies and finely cut fruits... removing all pips and seeds lest they get stuck in the pockets ...... a bit of extra effort but well worth it to try and resolve her constipation buddy.

Try to cut back on dehydrating drinks such as those containing caffeine ie: soft drinks and sodas, coffee, tea and also alcohol will dehydrate you...........for each can of soda or soft drink that you have your body can excrete up to 12 cups of water !! Caffeine is marginally better ~ for just one cup of coffee you need to replace it with 2 cups of water because the caffeine tricks our brains into thinking that we have ample water supply and encourages the body to urinate much needed fluid from our body!!

The use of laxatives will only exaspperate her problem and will do a brilliant job of robbing her of her B complex of vitamins (which are essential for healthy digestive, neural and immune system functioning) and also your vitamin C supplies. Also take a good quality multi B complex supplement as the B group of vitamins is essential for healthy digestive, neural and immune system functioning......  a liquid supplement containing all the B's would be the easiest for her system to assimilate ... ie ~ B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12 and folic acid etc....  As they are a water soluble complex our bodies can neither store or produce them. As such we need to replace them on a daily basis or suffer from the stress related side affect.

Drink loads of fresh filtered water too ~ at least 2 - 3 litres per day ~ as the happiest and healthiest body will always be the most hydrated one.

♥ For a temporary measure only put 1 teaspoon of baking soda into a glass of water, stir it up and drink up ......... be prepared to do a loud burp and you'll find that any tummy ache you had will be resolved within 15 minutes and your constipation will itself resolve within a few hours ♥ The baking soda will realkalise the contents of your tummy and help you move .......... it is only an aid to be used in an emergency though, as along with realkalising the contents of your tummy and giving you relief from the ghastly pain of constipation it will also neutralise your digestive juices (eat more foods rich in magnesium in future to encourage the production of digestive juices ~ i guess that's why my mom always used to tell me to eat my greens ...... i wonder if my mom knew why she was saying it !!)

Herbal teas that will help are chomomile, dandelion, echinacea, ginger, peppermint and yellow dock and also aloe vera juice............  ensure that you only buy the loose leaf organic variety of the herbal teas as the commercial varieties have had way too much of the goodness pulverised from them to be of any therapeutic value ........  the essential oils in the organic loose leaf varieties are very rich and beneficial ....  ensure that you still hydrate your body properly too if you are going to drink herbal teas as nothing substitutes for water.

Anything packaged with "Dieter" on the label would make me skeptical and wary as that would give me the impression that it had been laced with chemicals such as aspartame which are chemically altered sugars that are hideously bad for you ...........;0)

This link provides info on side affects of aspartame if you are interested ~

    i hope this helps u a bit

    peace 2 u

  7. 2 tablespoons of olive oil taken on an empty stomach. It's a little gross but very effective. Just swallow it down.

If she can't handle that, try the juice of half a lemon in a glass of warm water first thing in the morning (once again, on an empty stomach.).

Castor oil is actually toxic so I wouldn't go there.

  8. try miralax

  9. eat a lot of vegetables

  10. Low carb ice cream, or any sugar-free sweets with "sugar alcohols".  They taste great but definitely have side effects if you eat more than a serving =[

  11. drink a cup of warm prune juice .Works in one hour. Has more fiber than 4 bowls of oatmeal. All natural and it works every time

  12. Every morning drink a cup of warm water with honey it in. They honey helps lubricate the bowels.  Also a good book that has natural remedies in it is called  Secrets of Self-Healing. Its a great book and has a lot of supplements and things you can do to treat common aliments

  13. I would start take one tablespoon of Cod Liver Oil a day.  I started taking it years ago, and it has a variety of good health benefits.  But when I take it, I normally go to the bathroom 2 - 3 times a day.  It definitely keeps you regular.

  14. you can try Aloe Vera juice but you should get to an herbalist or acupuncture to treat the root of her problem

  15. If you are looking for something that will help quickly try Senna or Cascara. They are both herbs that are safe to take. You can find Senna in a pill form in most Grocery stores, it's marketed as Senokat.

For long term help she needs to consult with a Naturapath... they can find out what you are lacking in your diet that is causing the problem.

  16. Well besides eating plenty of fiber, chewing your food well, staying well hydrated, and exercise.....Marijuana seems to help.    A few puffs in the morning seem to help me on days where i'm having trouble.  Try it

  17. Well, I work at the hospital, and when we dont have a doctors order for a laxative, we heat syrup(maple) 30 oz, and prune juice together, about 8 0z, mix, drink down and get close to a bathroom. MOM, chocolate milk, apple juice also may work.

  18. Dieters drink does contain laxatives, and it easy to become laxative dependent. There are many causes of constipation including blood deficiency (common in the elderly), dryness (kind of goes with blood deficiency), lack of large intestine Qi energy, and dampness. You could visit a licensed acupuncturist and find out exactly why she is not having regular BM's.

  19. Cheerios.  I promise.
