How do you obtain a liqour licence for a wedding reception at a community hall?

Im curious on how you obtain an alberta liqour licence so i am able to serve liqour at the small wedding reception we are holding a community center?

And how long does it take?

It all depends on the locality. Liquor laws vary from state to state and in many case from town to town.

I know here in NJ you wouldn't even need a license, per se, as long as you're not actually selling the liquor, serving it to minors or charging a cover.

Check in with your municipal clerk and he/she should be able to point you in the right direction.

Personally, I wouldn't even bother with it. Cops aren't very likely to break up a wedding reception for no good reason. Just make sure your guests stay in check :)

You could probably get it from the liquor store you're going to be buying from.  Give them a call and ask.  (When my friends got married last year I'm sure she said they got the license from the liquor store.)  If not there, try your local registry office.

Hire a bartender who has one so that you don't have to worry about it.

Otherwise, your community center should be able to point you in the right direction.

If they can't, go online to your Provincial gov't page and see if a search can yield some results.
