  1. Have you gotten a new drivers license from your new state? If not then you really should.

  2. If you lived part of a year in one state, and part of a year in another state, then you do owe taxes for the proportion of the year you were in the old state.  Go to some place like H+R Block for help in calculating how much taxes you owe to which state.

If you are residing in a new state, then apply to that state for an id card associated with that state.  If you drive, or own a vehicle, you were required to register that fact in the new state within 30 days or so, or else risk getting arrested for violation of various driver laws.

When you moved to the new state, you had a civic duty to send a change of address form to all the people who know you, send you stuff in the mail, including government agencies.

So long as they have you on the mailing lists, you can continue to get all kinds of stuff.  If it is forwarded by the post office, then you can send it back to sender marked "Moved, no longer in state of ...." (whatever) but if they are sending it directly to you at your new address in the new state, then you have a problem with dingbats in government.

You may need to get help from a lawyer or accountant.

Places I worked took YEARS to get old state to quit trying to tax an organization no longer doing business in their state.  Eventually the state reimbursed all the funds it had improperly seized, but it seemed to take an eternity to get this resolved.

  3. You need to reside in said state anywhere from 6 months to a year. Then go get a driver's license. Look your prospective state up online.

  4. Depends the state, usually its living a year in the new state and then you fill out voter registration, or new license, or you work in the new state and you can use your taxes to become resident....about your old state sending you jury duty stuff, you gotta contact them and let them know your situation....
