How do you open a downloaded saved game file onto a game?

i need to open a saved game file recently downloaded but i need to load it on the game,

any ideas on how i do that?

Mostly what i do is i take the save file and put it into the folder that the game uses to reference profiles. Like for instance, Medieval Total War is C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Medieval - Total War - Gold Edition\SaveGames, so all i would do is take the save file from another computer and stick it into this folder. Is that what your talking about?
