How do you open a locked door without a key and without damaging the door by forcing it?

Depending on the type of lock, sometimes a credit card slid up and down where the lock connects to the door might work.  Otherwise, either call a locksmith or do as I once did - climb in through a window.

depends upon the lock. if there is a hole in the center of the door k**b you can use a coat hanger, paper clip or skinny nail to push a button inside. Some locks will require a small screwdriver. Sometimes you you can wedge a credit card into the strike plate and get it to pop open that way.

You don't, all you can do is knock. It's up to the one on the other side to unlock the door. Unless you are on the inside, then you just open it. So I guess it depends on what kind of door you are speaking of. A real door, or a figurative door

Stick a credit card in while pushing on the door.  It'll work as long as there's no deadbolt engaged.

Using a credit card will work on most locks, excepting a dead bolt.   Pulling the pins out of the hinges is an antiquated notion as the pins are inaccessible from the outside.  Hire a good man w/ a jimmy kit.

I'm trying to think of a philosophical answer, but i can't, i keep coming back to the ol credit-card-in-the-door k**b-hope--its-not-a-deadlock trick.

Rip a piece of paper into two halves. Then put the two halves together to form a hole. Then escape through the hole.
