Question:

How do you orphan a new born baby bunny?

My friend and i were outside and we saw baby bunnies practicaly EVERYWHERE so we cleaned them up and one was alive so we took it inside and we have been taking care of it since this morning and we jst wanted a little advice on how to take care of him and we know the basics but we want to know jst some more facts about how to orphan this baby bunny and jst a little reminder his eyes arent open yet and he will barly swallow the warm milk so jst help us a little please some one thenks ~Morgan and anna

Read here: http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/orpha...  You really do need to get it to a wildlife rehabber ASAP- there's a link to find one on this page.  Most orphaned baby bunnies die in captivity, its chances will be improved by being cared for by an expert.  Also, stop feeding it cow's milk (you will sicken or kill it).  If you can't find a rehabber near you, you will need to use goat's milk or kitten milk replacer, never cow's milk.  Also, young babies should not be having any sort of greens because they will give them diarrhea and dehydrate them, so no cabbage leaves or carrot tops as the other answerer recommended.  


  2. I am currently in the same position as you. I found a baby cottontail in my backyard on Tuesday, but she has fur and her eyes are open. I read on Google to give them warm cats or kitten milk. They also like carrot leaves and cabbage.
