How do you out two american girl dolls in the doll tote?

i tried, and only one fits, but the picture shows two dolls.

it depends on the tote you have. Some of them really do not fit two dolls.

However, you just have to sit them in there and not have any clothing or anything else in the bottom of the zipper portion or the doll part.
