How do you outsmart, lure and trap a smart holed up mouse?

I have a mouse inside a wall that I can't get into. I'm looking to humanely trap it. It refuses to be trapped for two reasons:

1. I caught it once and it got away (don't ask).

2. It travels inside the wall/under cabinets which I also can't access. I never hear it (I used to until it was trapped).

I got frustrated and bought a second trap. I originally caught it with peanut butter but have since tried moving to chocolate. I also tried a cotton ball a couple of days. My traps are the kind that the mouse's weight shuts a door behind it. I believe the mouse recognizes the traps and avoids them despite the bait.

I tried spraying crushed up peppermint candy dissolved in water into where I believe it resides most and to my knowledge this had no effect on it.

I also laid down powder across my doorways and stove to see if I could track its movements but it has not touched any of it. The only place this succeeded was on a bureau where I found its pooped. Traps did not work there.

  1. sounds like the 007 of the mouse kingdom.OK,look for a trap that is just a square box and has a flap type door on one end once in he cant get out .chocolate is best but it may be wise to it or peanut butter, try bird seed i know they like sunflower seeds.i had to put mine in plastic containers to keep them out of it.also if you have a trap give it a good washing before you reload it smell is one of the things the buggers relate to danger

  2. Best result for Mr. Smarty Mouse; Decon!  Get a pack of it and place a tray or two beneath your cabinets.  That space under the inside bottom.  He will snack on it and die shortly.  You won't have to worry about him smelling up the place with Decon, it dries them up so they don't smell should he decide to pass away inside your house.

I have 4 cats and had a smart mouse this last fall do the same thing.  He knew they couldn't get in there after him and it drove the cats nuts!  One tray a Decon under the cabinet and he was history!

  3. I'd agree with making sure the trap is very well washed, it's probably the odour it recognises.  It is chocolate that does the trick, much better than cheese, but leave the trap alone (apart from looking to see if you've got it.)  You may need to leave the trap for days, if not weeks, until it falls for it.  Mice tend to run alongside the bottom of walls, so that's where to put it.

  4. Get a cat all my mouse was killed by my cats lol but last week it came back again i caught it and it ran away bcuz my trap have a small hole.. i didnt notice... so now i dun c it anymore i put the cats in my hos and it's gone now anyway it likes white cheese did u tried to make the cheese melt and put it ther.. it will smell it and come out
