How do you pack for a month-long trip?

I'm wondering how much stuff I should pack for a month-long trip to Victoria, Australia. For example, how much clothes and other essentials would I need? What things should I bring with me? Give me some ideas...

Major piece of advice:  Bring about 1/2 to 1/3 the amount of clothing you think you'll need.  Make sure all the pieces can be put together in different combinations (bring accessories to mix it up).  

If you find you absolutely need something additional, they have stores there. :-)

Don't forget voltage converter/plug adaptors for your electronics.  

And bring an extra tote bag in case your souvenirs don't all fit in your bag for your return trip.  Something like this:
