  1. I usually paint my own nails and there's really no special technique to do it but being patient and careful, I start in the middle and then go to the extremes... you gotta be fast because nail polishers nowadays dry way too fast so you need to get it good and fast! If a nail spoils just let it dry and keep on with the other ones, after you are done take care of the spoiled one!

  2. the polish makes a difference.  OPI or Sally Hansen are good.  Use swift motions and don't hesitate.  The more you go over one spot, the more lumpy it will be because the first strokes have already started to dry.

  3. Nope. just brush in the middle then the sides. Maybe its the nail polish. And you have to do it kinda quick so the polish doesnt start to dry because then it will clump.

  4. THe best method is to have a manicure professionally done at a salon and observe the technique so you can maintain this at home.

Nevertheless, for a first timer, never shake any bottle of nail polish, nail polish is a flammable liquid, you can tell right off from opening the bottle cap, and smalle the flammable vapors. Just take the bottle and gently roll it in your pams of your handsback and forth. If the bottle of polish is shaken up and down, some bubbles may appear. This is from the flammable vapors trying to escape from the bottle and may form on your nails as you apply the polish, later they make  "bubble up." and break apart or chip.

Give yourself a complete manicure first, file, buff your nails, use a cuticle oil and push back your cuticles (never cut them) with a cuticle stick. Cut away any edges of skin arounf your nails for a smooth look. Use hand lotion and file all ridges and snags. Wash all the hand lotion off completely and wipe dry. Hand lotion if left on nails can prevent nail, polish from adhereing to the the fingernail.

Then use a clear base coat. The base coat is used like a primer whe  you paint on any surface. You want to start with a smooth unifmr surface so the base coat provides the canvas for when the colored polish is applied.

Myself,  I like OPI produicts because they have a "wide pro brush" where you can start from the very middle of your nail at the bottom of the cuticle (but not touching it) and sweep up to the tip of your nail, then use two overlapping strokes, one to the left of the first one and the second to the right of the first one. The polish should be glossy, you can also end with a horizontal stroke across the top part of your nail. To clean the brush between strokes clean the brush from the inside rim of the bottle and lift up. You may have tosweep the right amoun of polish to get the right consistency but don';t worry practice make perfect as to the little (or more polish) you can apply.

If you use too much clean your brush and transfer it to another nail, etc.

Repeat till all of your nails are polished with the clear cost. Let the polish dry completely. If your feel you missed a spot use a second coat of clear polish.

After the clear coat has dried completly, then you can use the colored polish, same method, first stroke from the bottom of the nail right above the cuticle and up towards the nail tip, Overlap the right and left strokes cleaning the brush inside the bottle inner rim before applying the next. The polish should be smooth as glass finish and may appear wet. To make sure the polish dries you can paint a piece of paper the same time you apply each coat and check to see if the paper is dry or tacky. For best results make sure the polish is not takcy but completely dry.

Repeat until all ten fingers are completed. If you make a mistake don't worry, allow the nail to dry completely, and use nail polish remover to clean the finernail and start with a clear base coat. Use two or three coats of colored polish making sure they dry between each coat, for the unltimate shine and prevent chipping.

After the polish is applied the way you want it, use a top coat sealer. A quick dry top coat is recommended because it will seal inn the colored polish. One or two coats of clear top coat can be used,

If you have longer fingernails, one trick would be to start by polishing just the tips of each nail and then go back and paint them over. by painting the tips first, this helps protect them from splitting or breaking easily.

After your nail are done, let them dry completely, don't lift a finger, just allow them to dry completeley otheriwise the polish may smear.

When complete, use gloves to wash dishes or when using and household cleaners, file any snags or rough edges immediately and then apply more top coat to protect your lovely manicure. Try and keep a large set of cheap nail files wherever you are at work, in every handbag, in your car, at home in every room you frequent, so whenever you feel a snag on your nails, you can file it down and re-apply clear top coat for more protection.

I saw this lady today in her truck and she had the most georgous "fluor" orange fingernails I ever seen. She looked gorgoeus and I just had to give her a compliment. So, I hope this helps you out. YOu could aslo ask some fo your girlfrriends for any help or do a goggle serach for applying nail plish videos. Good luck. Kudos.
