I am wondering how do you pass level 1 in Parelli? Do you have to have the Level 1 DVDs? Do you have to send in a video? Do you have to have a instructor grade you personally? How much does it cost(if it does)?

Cause I am a strong Parelli believer, and I don't know when I have passed!! I have been doing Parelli for 4 months, and have had great results! My horse and I do all the seven games, but he is not great at all of them....does it matter?

I can't afford the dvds, ive been going by information ive collected from the savvy club and other places.

Please Help!

  1. You  know you have passed when your horse is really good and confident about what you are asking him.

Like the games, if he dosent know them all that well, dont move on, make sure he knows them!!

Sorry, I dont know if I helped or not I use Clinton Anderson stuff which is alot like parelli, but not exactly!!

    good luck

  2. if you are in the savvy club, then you have access to the answer.  The tests are available on the club homepage.  You have to have an instructor sign you off or you have to send in a video.  The 7 games don't have to be perfect, they judge your reaction to the horse, and the skills you show in handling the horse that shows up.

If you are in the savvy club, you also have access to the forum.  There are a lot of level 1 sets in the classifieds.

You might also be able to do a member search for your area, and see if there are any parelli study groups in your area.  if there are, you might be able to borrow the dvds.  that is what i had to do at first.

be careful not to turn those 7 games into the 7 circles of h**l for your horse.  you have to be creative with your games or you will sour your horse.  the savvy club dvds and magazines will have info to help keep you fresh~!

  3. they have assessment tests that you can print off of the internet for you to practice with. when i passed my level one last summer we had a certified parelli instructer come out to our barn. your games dont have to be perfect as long as they know you are being safe and you actually know what parelli is about and how to play the games and everything they will pass you(usually)

i used my 4 year old friesian gelding who hadnt been ridin that much and he was slamming me into the fence and trying to get out(we didnt know the saddle i was using didnt fit him :( ) and passed. as long as they know that you can correct whatever you or horse did wrong(they are very good at telling you what you need to work on or how you should fix what your doing) you should be fine. its not all that hard. they really do help you with stuff that your working on.

heres the level 1 assessment test website it works better if you have adobe acrobat on your computer:

here is a list of certified parelli instructers:

we used Ann Kiser of oregon and she is great(all of them are, they do parelli of course!)

hope this helps! keep having fun with your horse!

  4. You don't have to be certifiably "passed" but if you go on to a Parelli center, then you'll have to have been recognized by an official instructor.

I believe there is a fee of around $35 to send a tape in to an instructor, though you might also be able to find a parelli instructor in your area.

I would simply recommend contacting someone from the parelli website.

    Good luck!
