How do you patch a hole in a carpet?

My cat has been clawing the rug recently and I hadn't noticed she "did a real number" on one particular spot and vacuumed over it. The vacuum ate about six very long lines. How do I repair it so it isn't very noticeable?

  1. if the threads were pulled pretty neatly you can sew them back in, so hopefully you havnt thrown them out / emptied the vacuum yet.

basically if you cant sew them back in you have to patch it.

without knowing the carpet type, its hard to give detailed instructions.

But basically your gona have to cut out the effected area and then put a new peice in. How you cut it depends alot on the pile type, but whatever you do the aim is to move the pile aside and cut the backing only. you dont want to cut any pile (as those S****y cookie cutters do, dont use one of them)

if you do cut the pile it will look crappy and wont blend in.

if you dont have a peice of carpet to cut and put in, you might want to get a peice from a cupboard and use that and put the cat torn peice in the cupboard.

  2. You can cut a piece out of a closet and get some carpet tape and try to fix it.
