  1. I like that I don't have to stand in line to pay the bill, but I REALLY am uncomfortable with the idea that I just handed my card to a complete stranger and that they can copy it and use it online. I don't know what they are doing with my card when they take it and walk away, although I'm sure that they are just swiping it and giving it back. but in this day of identity theft and fraud, you can't be too careful, ya know? I'd seriously rather stand there and pay a cashier. then at least I can watch what they do!

  2. At the table.

  3. Well, most restaurants, you pay at the table unless like youre in IHOP or something. But as someone who used to be a server, I hated when my customers were looking for me so they could pay, like its awkward having them walk up to you with money, especially if they're not even leaving. If you're in a rush, its perfectly understandable. In addition, we prefer to be paid with credit cards, its so much easier. I hate having to bring a bank of change with me so I can get someone back change on a hundred when they had a 17 dollar lunch. Like , its good if its cash cause it doesnt get taxed fully, but in a rush its a hassle getting change for people who are paying cash. And dont use those stupid gift card visas, they always have a problem going through.

  4. Get up and pay a cashier.

Anyone will be able to steal the money off the table and what if I want my change back?

  5. It depends on the restaurant. With some, the only way you CAN pay is at the cash register. Other places, like Outback, Texas Road House, Applebee's, Chili's you cannot do that. The server will take your money or cash.

I will generally pay with a credit card but I always HAND the tip in CASH to my server.

As for leaving a tip on the table, somebody is really hard up to take a couple of bucks. I have many times sat down with money on the table and never thought twice about taking it. I always make sure the server gets it.

  6. I pay at the table. BUT I hand the waiter/waitress the money in person. I used to wait tables & other waits, busboys, AND EVEN managers have taken tips that don't belong to them. That way you don't have to wait in line, & you know for a fact the right person is getting the money.

  7. It's just so much more convenient to give your credit card to the waitress/waiter than to wait in a line. You might as well finish enjoying your drink or your company in the time that you wait for them to bring back the bill.

  8. I prefer to pay the cashier for the same reasons as previous answer plus once you get the bill, you don't have the added wait of back and forth by the server so it saves time.

  9. I would pay at the table and count my money when you get your change. in some restaurants the waiter/waitress will give you the check and walk away then come back and take the money. put in the register and bring you back the change then you count the money.

  10. the wait is definately an issue. if paying at table i usually ask for the check as soon as i know there won't be anything else ordered (last drink of the night or when they come and check on you after you get your food) that way i can get it to them and get it back and over with so i can get out of there when i actually want to get up and walk out. on the other hand i have stood at the register just as long waiting for the short handed staff to muster up someone to ring me out as it would for a waiter to get it and return. either way in my opionion can be handled right or wrong in its own way.

  11. It doesn't matter to me, but I think if you tip the cashier, and if you aren't paying with plastic and adding it on to your cashier's receipt, give the waitress/server/barista/etc. your tip personally because I was at a restaurant with the family and one of my brother's friends came and ate with us (technically wasn't with us, but came out-of-spite but that's another story) and stole a friggin' 10 dollar tip off one of the tables!  So rude and unethical!  I could of told the restaurant but I didn't want to start drama...

  12. I'd rather get up and pay a cashier because sometimes waiters take forever to bring your card/change back and when i'm done eating I just want to leave.
