How do you perpendicular park (reverse in)?

Question

When there is a parking spot on the left side of the street (and you're obviously driving on the right side of the street), do you follow the whole reverse park procedure while staying on the right side, into the parking on the left side OR do you drive into the left lane (to potential oncoming traffic) and then do the reverse park procedure? (have a test coming up where this is very likely to happen).

drive into the left lane and line up with the car right in front the the open spot..make sure your turning signal is on.... and reverse into the spot......

Get into the correct lane first not facing oncoming traffic and then do the reverse parking procedure......................
