Question:

How do you persuade a stubborn, ignorant person?

My father wants to send me to a catholic school that is about 4 minutes away (Roselle Catholic). But, I want to attend the public school that is RIGHT across the street from my house (Linden High School).

The thing is, he's very ignorant, and I'm even afraid to voice out my opinion to him, because he always gives me an attitude whenever I do. Then he goes onto this longgg talk about his opinion.

The reason why he's sending me to this catholic school is because he thinks I'm going to invite people over to my house, which is not true. My friend lives across the street, why would I want to do that? And, he thinks the environment in the public school is bad, which is not true!

So how can I persuade him??

  1. Do you mean "International Baccalaureate"? There may be only 4 schools in the state that use it - but, like the name says, it's international. There are schools here in Oxford (UK) than use it, and so does the school where my brother teaches which is in Austria. It will be accepted by any university anywhere in the world. That's not a detriment, it's a positive. It's a far more respected qualification than a high school graduation certificate.

How many courses will you be taking? If the extra 40 are things you'd want to study, it's relevant. If not, why would you care?

The academics is worrying - but you need to be sure it's true. If an eight year old's class reads Romeo and Juliet, that doesn't mean they're working at the same level as a class of sixteen year olds who are studying it.

Don't for goodness sake try anything the other answerer said - if my kid came out with that sort of arrogant attitude I'd make darn sure they were taken out of the school system where they'd learnt it! You need actual FACTS which demonstrate why one school is better for you. Finding some will also demonstrate your maturity to him.

  2. tell him you want to go to public school tell him the pros leave out the cons of public give HIM a long lecture about how YOU can't ever voice YOUR opinion without HIM giving YOU cr@p  and tell him he is stubborn

and if you need an allyby i have been in public school since preschool and i never go a day wishing i was in private because public is a choice you can hang with the bad crew or you can be a good person and stay far away plus i hear that it is worse in private than public cause the people think they can do whatever they want
