How do you photography celebrities without the huge fee's???????

Question

hey,I'm really interested in photographing some celebrities,but from what i understand I'd have to pay them quite alot of money for them to let me.I'm not interested in paparazzi style photographs I don't think it's right to just photograph people while their trying to get on with there lives but anyhow how would you suggest i go about this?I was thinking writing and asking but for all they know i could be some nutter(which i;m not)

You have answered your own question ...

There is one other possibility .. if you have a good DSLR, flash and lens, you may be able find a charity that has celebrity fund raisers and work for them as one of their photographers ... then you will have many shots of celebrities.
