How do you pick a lock?

so were at the beach this week before school starts, and this one door in my room is locked. how do i pick the lock?! its one that needs a key... any ideas

If its a heavy duty lock then I think you might just have to unscrew the door.

bobby pin in the center hole, feel around till you hit something, then turn the way that will unlock the door, it depends on the door form which way it is.

depends upon the type of lock. The most common type one will encounter and fortunately the easiest to lock is the pin tumbler lock. This system uses a series of pins that are raised to certain altitudes by the correct key which has ridges of varying heights. You can exploit the system by applying tension and 'raking' the pins. However in order for you to visualise this you'll need to see what the inside of one of these looks like so you'll need diagrams and then lengthy instructions and even then it really doesn't make sense without actually seeing it done.

Fortunately for you though I've got that for you right here. Enjoy. Oh an you can also just buy an electric lockpicker which will break almost any lock and does so basically by vibrating a small rod into the keyhole so much that basically shakes the lock into unlocking. I've heard you can make a makeshift one out of a drill.

It's not easy to do. You need a special lock picking tool that you use to lift each individual tumbler so the lock can be turned without a key. You need a locksmith license to get these tools.
