How do you pick faster on the guitar?

im left handed but play a right handed guitar and i can move my left hand fast but i cant pick the notes fast enough

I play a right handed guitar even though I'm left handed as well. I just learned rest picking, which means when you pick down, you "rest" the pick on the bottom string (it acts as a reference point), then go back up.
