  1. Okay so...First off, take your time. There are a million tattoo places, and all can make it look like they are the best. But sit down and look through their work, talk to them. Have them draw up a few designs of what you want. And check on prices, some places will try to massively rip you off. Friends and people you know are good resources, talk to them. See where and who did their tattoos. No one knows better than those with personal experience. And cleanliness is a big thing. If the place looks like a disaster, 9 times out of 10, it is one. Steer clear of those kinds of places.

Hope this helps, best of luck!

  2. Try not to go to a sleazy looking establishment. Make sure they clean the needles lolz.

  3. I would look at their portfolio, ask all the question you might have, and if they are in the process of doing a tattoo or just finish one ask the person how it went, etc.  I would do that with a few artist/shops and see which one you feel most comfortable going to/shop.  I have been in shops that just creeped me out.

  4. AT first you check out there portfolio or tattoos and make sure the tats are somewhat similar to what you plan on getting. Then you talk to him/her about your tattoo and blam!

  5. Presuming you are serious about ideas/ advice ; you've read the rest, now read the best ! : DON'T  DO  IT.

  6. tatoo.com go google it that should help do reaseach on wikipeadia.com

  7. I picked mine coz i heard of alot of people going there and their tattoos are fab! these things go around by word of mouth

  8. Definitely talk to people who have gone to him/her. You don't wanna go on just a whim. And the portfolio suggestion is a good thing as well.

  9. you look at their portfolio and check out their other clients tattoos

  10. Checkout reputation of tattoo artist. Ask people about their tatts in conversation.  Ask a lot of questions before you set an appointment with your tattoo artist.

Do you always use new needles?- Some places autoclave and reuse. A dull needle Will dig, jump and scar your tissue.

Ask about how they manage cover-up tattoos; tattooing over scar tissue; and tattooing and healing issues for people of color: any issue that affects you.

Many people, including many tattoo artists, say that a female tattoo artist will have a lighter touch, not put as much pressure on the needle resulting in less deep needle penetration of tissue and faster healing time but just as strong and long lasting color. I suppose a guy could have a light touch too but I would go with the lady if she is experienced and I feel comfortable with her.

Check out the shop. If it is dirty or there is any evidence of alcohol or drug use in or around the shop just leave.

  11. just agreeing wit CatCat u can also get opinions i have a few tatts i done alot of research on them like what im geting and where im getting it done

  12. The easiest thing to do is go from artist to artist. I would look at their portfolio first, to see the type of tattoo that they do well in, and then once you have narrowed it down, find one with a good portfolio that you like and get along with.
