How do you pick watermelon out?

I bought a watermelon and when I cut it I noticed it was pink instead of red and juicy. I hate plain tasting watermelon, I like it juicy and sweet.

  1. If it's the big ones, you can shake it and see if it has alot of liquid inside.  For all smaller melons, you push a little on the stem indentation and smell it.  If you can smell the melon, then it's ripe (works especially well for cantaloupe & honeydew)

  2. First you hold it and see if it's heavy (juicy watermelons are heavier than the rest), secondly while holding it with your left arm, slap it with your right palm (a firm blow in the middle part) you will observe a certain flexibility inside the watermelon, the more you feel it the more juicier it is.

  3. I was always told to knock on it like a door, if it sounds hollow then it's good.
