  1. Green side up, and row by row. and add water daily. <}:-})

  2. You will need to prepare the ground first of all. To achieve this you will need to get at least 2 inches of fine tilth earth all over. You  could do this with a cultivator which you can hire. Once you achieve this, pick all the large stones out, and rake the surface flat. You will now need to roll it so it is nice and compact. The sods come in 3 X 1 ft size, (in the UK anyway)  Once you've laid out an area, try not to walk on the sods, use a long plank to stand on as you move through your garden. The job is now complete. Where you need to cut a sod, use a sharp knife, do not tear the apart. Now you can give it a good soaking, for this a sprinkler would be good. Common sence will tell you when the grass is wet enough. After, water twice daily, just don't let it dry out. Keep off, until you need to cut the grass.

  3. Lay it on soil green side up and water

  4. before laying the sod try some peat moss mix and spread it evenly over the ground moisten the soil by misting it not to wet or it becomes mud. then lay the sod and water until water penetrates the sod by lifting and seeing the underside, then evryday only 20 mins per area will be sufficient

  5. You stick it on a patch of dirt and water it.

  6. You sprinkle seeds, sod!

  7. Most peoples grass sucks because they don't take the time to prepare and amend the soil.  Developers are the worst!

Anyways, take the time to do it right:

    1. Rent or borrow a rototiller and till the area to be sodded to a depth of 6-12".  Go over the area a couple of times to pulverize any clods .   This also a good time to add (amend) good soil (manure, compost, topsoil blend etc.).  Apply this over the top 2-3" of area and till in to mix.

2.Rake the area level, removing large rocks (don't go crazy removing every pebble!).  Use a 25 gallon water roller to roll smooth.  Rake and Roll, Rake and Roll, until you have a smooth surface , ready for sod.

    3. CHeck to make sure your sprinklers are working well and nozzles are covering ALL areas to be sodded.  If you don't have an irrigation system-well, good luck.

    4. Sprinkle some "starter" fertilizer on the soil and water in for 5 minutes.  Start laying out your sod peices end-to-end.  Water thoroughly afterwards (15-20 minutes!)

    5. Wait about 30 minutres following irrigation and use the water roller one last time to "push" the sod and roots down into the wet soil.

    6. Water daily (a.m. & p.m. if warm) for 15 minutes. Keep off for first week.  Keep water off for one or two day sbefore mowing for the first time (2 weeks)
