Hi, I'm on the freshmen volleyball team at my high school. I am an outside hitter. I do amazing during practices, but today was our first game and I did horrible. The problem is, we play 4-1 rotation and I know where I am supposed to be for serve recieve, but I don't know where I should be for everything else. PLEASE HELP. I need detail answers for exactly where I should be during the whole game. Thank-you

  1. The bottom line is that when your team is serving and your are in the front row, you get switched to the outside hitter position as soon as the server hit the ball (you mentioned that you already know what to do at serve receive).

I would assume that you are playing 4-2, when you have two setters on the court, and the one in the front row is always setting... or 5-1, when you only have one setter on the court.

Please refer to the following link for player positions at every rotation for 4-2, 5-1, and 6-2.
