I was recently given this game as a gift. It seems really fun, and the internet is filled with scores of positive reviews. But, the rules my set came with seem barely literate. The rules (same as here http://tiny.cc/l23za) are disjointed at best. Can anyone more concisely or clearly explain the rules to this game.

  1. I agree, not very easy to understand.

    Maybe this will help:

"Perquackey is a very simple word game in which a player rolls dice printed with letters and tries to form words from the letters that land face-up.

The game includes 13 6-sided letter dice, a sand timer, and a dice cup. Players take turns trying to form words while racing against the timer. An opponent takes on the task of writing down the words formed as the player calls them out. Words must be at least three letters long, and at most five words may be formed of any particular length. Only a word or its plural are allowed, but not both, and the usual word game prohibitions against proper names, abbreviatione, etc. also apply.

After each round the player's score is tabulated according to a scoring chart. The first player to accumulate 5000 points is the winner. The scoring system is the most ingenious part of the game. The first word of any length gives more points than each incremental word, making a single long word exciting and worth the effort. In addition to points for individual words, there are bonuses for finding a complete set of five words in both of two adjacent lengths, for example 3 letters and 4 letters. These important bonuses create tension when a player needs just one more word to get the bonus, and has to struggle find one.

In addition to the scoring system, the limitation to five words of each length is where Perquackey shows its superiority to its more popular cousin, Boggle. An extremely long list of three-letter words is not necessary to be competitive, freeing the player for the challenge of finding a less extensive collection of longer words."
