How do you play a D chord on the guitar? when i play it it sounds too low?

your guitar is prob out of tune no?

there are many ways to play it as long as it contains D as the root, F# as the major third and A as the fifth.

the most common one is

6th and 5th string muted (use your thumb)

4th string open

3rd string fret 2 - index finger

2rd string fret 3 - ring finger

1 string fret 1 - middle finger
