Can anyone maybe give me an EXAMPLE of how an american football match might run?

  1. Its pretty simple. One team gets the football first (the offense), and tries to get into the other teams endzone by passing the ball (quarterback throws it to player without it hitting the ground) or running it. The defense can catch the ball (interception) or force a fumble (other team drops it and they pick it up). Once the defense gets a interception or fumble, their offense can try to get into the other teams endzone. If an offense is close enough to an endzone but doesn't wanna risk it, they can kick the ball through the field goal posts for 3 points, or punt it away. There are 4 downs, and usually on the 4th down is when you kick a field goal or punt. The team with the highest score after 60 minutes, wins the game.

  2. Two Teams....One team is offense (the team in control of the ball). The other team is Defense. Offense is trying to score. The quarterback of the offense (the guy mostly in charge of where the ball goes) can decide to either throw the ball or to hand the ball off to be ran.  Offense gets four tries to get a first down. A first down is achieved by gaining 10 yards (the white lines on the field ). If offense gets a first down then they can keep the ball for four more times and if they get another etc. The object is to score with a touchdown (worth 6 points getting into the end-zone). If you get a touchdown you can kick a field goal for 1 point or try to get 2 extra points if you try to enter the end-zone again. If unable to score a touchdown you can try for just a field goal which would be worth 3 points. While offense has the ball the defense is tackling the offensive players or trying to get the ball from the offense.

If the offense is unable to get a first down they must punt the ball to the defense team who then becomes the offense team.

  3. I very  easy to understand once you get the hang of it.The game starts off with a flip of a coin. The team that wins choices to receive the ball first (that means they are going for the touchdown first). The team that loses the toss punts the ball (kicks it).Now the team that kicked it is on defense the winners of the coin toss are on offense.Once the guy kicks it-the winners of the toss catch it and try to run to their end zone. While the guy who catches it is running his teammates try to stop the kickers team from tackling him so he can gain more yards. Finally the runner is usually tackled and the offense team starts from where the ball landed. Now the center underpasses the ball to the quarterback who looks for a guy to pass the ball to.Sometimes he throws it,sometimes he runs with it for only a few yards, and sometimes he is sacked (tackled) before he does anything.Let's say he does a play where the running back runs to gain 3 yards. Then it becomes the 2nd down which means the offense team has two more downs before they go for a field goal (3 points) or they punt it and the team on defense becomes the team on offense.Lets name these teams to make it easier-The team that won the toss and has the ball can be the Patriots and the team that lost the toss and is on defense is the Cowboys. Now that the Patriots are on their 2nd down they decide to do another running play which gains them 5 more yards. Now it's the 3rd down. The Patriots now decide to pass it which gains them 15 more yards. The Patriots now have a first down because they gained so many yards now.Lets say that now they have 30 more yards to make a touchdown,so they decide to do a running play on the first down. The running play gets them 5 more yards so now they have 25 more to go but it is the 2nd down. While the Patriots are going for the touchdown the Cowboys are trying to stop them by tackling the guy with the ball.So the Patriots are on their 2nd down so they decide to pass it.Passing it gets them 25 more yards so now they have a touchdown. When the team gets a touchdown they earn 6 points. Then they have to kick it to get one extra point.Which would be 7 Patriots to 0 Cowboys. The Patriots don't always have to kick it though, they can do a trick play by making it look like a kick but ithey are really running or kicking it.That would earn them 2 more points which would be 8 to 0 instead of 7 to 0.After they get one or two points the Patriots kick the ball to the Cowboys just like the beginning of the game-but the Cowboys had kicked it to the Patriots.

I really hope I didn't confuse you.I tried not to use all the terms so you could just get the hang of it.

    Hope this helps!

  4. One team has a ball and tries to get to the other side's inzone (This causes a touchdown giving the scoring team 7 points or maybe 6, I forgot).

    Repeat the process lol
