How do you play defense in Madden 09?

This is a serious question.

Every time I play online, I give up a touchdown or a field goal. Almost every single possession. It's getting really aggravating and annoying. I need to know how to lock up on D, so I can cause "three and outs".

There's no magic trick to defense  go to www.themaddenlab.com and browse the free forums to look for tips and just practice alot.
