  1. For regular play a sweeper is the last line of defense other then the goalie. Also there an extra to help upper players on the field. Lets say the left wing goes to goal. The left mid shifts up, the left back shifts up, and the sweeper shifts up in place for the left back. Its a support system and the sweeper is almost always part of it.

    For corners Sweeper gos in the goal with the two backs and and center mid then when the hitter for the other team hits the ball and every one runs out I would stand back so you are still the second line of defense. But if you have the easiest access to the ball don't be afraid to step up. The other players will back you up.
