How do you play the B flat concert scale on the Bass Guitar?

i recently joined my highschool concert band and they wanted me to play bass guitar. I know alot but i dont know wut note this scale starts in, is it C?

  1. Bb, C, D, Eb, F, G, A, Bb.  If you want to figure out any major scale, there is a pattern.  Whole step, whole step, half step, whole step, whole step, whole step, half step.  A whole step is two frets and a half step is one fret.  Hope this helps.

    I forgot to mention...  When they say "concert" that means untransposed pitch.  It really doesn't mean anything for you.  Other instruments have to transpose the notes to their key (i.e. for trumpet C=Bb concert). Lucky for us, we don't have to do this.


  2. The scale starts on Bb. This is the first fret of the A string. The entire scale is:

    A String: 1, 3

    D String: 0, 1, 3

    G String: 0, 2, 3.
