  1. umm i would sugest u no ask him/her dat cuz dependin on da tech, it mite be like not no mo

  2. As a teacher, I can tell you that every time a student brings up the idea of an "A", it puts our teeth on edge!  Do not - I repeat - do NOT, ask if you got an A, how to get an A, or (the worst) tell the teacher that you intend to get an A!  Let me explain.

To students, apparently, it is the grade that matters.  You want an A.  We, on the other hand, want you to learn.  Some of my best successes as a teacher are students who ended up with Bs and Cs, because they started out with Ds and Fs, and improved over time.  Students offend us by focusing on the grade, rather than the learning.  So, let me suggest the following alternatives:

"How did I do in the class?"  "I felt good about that exam.  How did I do?"

"I really want to do well in this class.  How would you suggest that I study for this course?"

You will get the answers you want (although there is no such thing as ensuring an A), but without offending the teacher in the process.

  3. Just like that sounds good.  Just don't do it in the middle of class.  Approach him/her after class and just be polite.  Teachers like it when their students care about their grades.  :)

  4. Ma'm, I was shooting for an A, did I achieve my goal? Oh, and if I didn't how can I get there? Sure appreciate your support!

  5. Just ask politely "Did I get an A?" Only if she is a mean mad machine then don't bother 2 ask!

  6. go up to the teacher and say can i see my grade

  7. You may not like my response but here goes -

First of all - why don't YOU know how you are doing in the class? Do you not get occasional progress reports? keep up with your own grades? One would think that if you are that concerned, you would do better to keep up with it on your own.

Second - The best thing you can do to to ENSURE that you get an A is to work hard ALL semester - doing ALL assignments to the best of your ability, studying hard all along and keeping up with all of your work, even when you are absent. Participate in YOUR education - don't just sit back and  think all of the responsibility lies on the teacher to come up with ways at the end of the year for you to suddenly put you over the edge from a B to an A (or from any grade to another grade).

If you have done all of that - worked your very hardest and done everything that is expected of you and beyond - then you should be VERY PROUD of whatever your grade is, knowing that YOU earned every bit of it - even if it is not an A. This is how you will mature and grow into the person that you are meant to be. Don't just focus on the letter grade that you get. I realize that sometimes the grade is all students see and you don't understand the whole picture - that is ok for now - one day you will.

  8. Sir/Ma'am, do you think my work was up to par for an A or do I need to work on something?  If the teacher grits his/her teeth just because you want to know if you did well or not, then the teacher has issues, I think.
