  1. Die Rechnung, bitte.

    dee rehkh-noong bit-teh

  2. there are a few different ways :-)

for example say : "würden sie mir bitte die Rechnung bringen ?"

or you can say : "ich würde gerne bezahlen"

say this friendly with a smile, and it will be ok :-)

  3. Both of the above answers are correct.

If you don't speak German, you can just say "Zahlen Bitte" (pronounced tz-ah-len bit-uh), which is a short way to say "I'd like to pay"? And smile.

But don't ask to pay before you are ready to! In most German restaurants you pay right at the table... so when you ask to pay, have your wallet / money out and ready to pay.

Finally - include the tip as you're paying, don't leave it on the table when you go. Tips are low in Germany (as waiters earn a real salary!) so round up.

For example, if your bill is 13,50, you would round it up to 15. You can either give the waiter 15 and say keep the change, or give them 20, and ask for 5 back.

    Have fun - Guten Appetit!
