How do you pray in congregation?

This might sound silly, I don't know, but I haven't really see people pray in congregation. Would you perform salah in the same way as you would when you are on your own and do you just listen to the imam and only say certain things like "allahu akbar"? Otherwise how does everyone keep in time?

  1. Basically the prayer is same. Except the one who is praying behind follows completely one Imam who is leading the prayer. Also the rows are set perfectly. Muslims praying in congregation is a beautiful sight and has wondered many of thinkers. A soldier gets years of training to move and stand up in perfect rows. For Muslims, a single call of of Iqama is enough for  all of them to row up perfectly and pray behind a single Imam. 3. U basically follow the imam.

U have to say takbir ("allahu akbar") after the imam.

U recite everything quietly to ureself including all the "Allahu Akbars" and prostrations but make sure ure following the imam.

But u do say the "Amen" out loud.

Everyone says fatiha to themselves quietly and if u finish before the imam, then just wait because it is haram to perform an action such as bowing before the imam does the action:

P.S.----praying in congregation (jama'at) is the best kind of prayer, especially in a mosque.

  4. The prayer follows the exact same pattern, and although you could repeat after the imam quietly, many people just say "Ameen" and the other things not part of the Qu'ran ("Allahu Akbar", "Subhana rubbi altheem", etc.).

Don't fear praying in congregation - I was nervous at first at appearing foolish. Just visit your local mosque and explain to the sisters there that you've never prayed in congregation before, and if they could just run you through? Insha'Allah, you will find many helpful Muslims at the masjid.

May Allah answer all of your prayers.

  5. you pray wholeheartedly...you may express your feelings but in a right manner..you should remember that you are talking with our almighty God..You show respect to him the way you pray. And the most important thing is you say his name because God has a name.. and He is Jehovah or YHWH
