I have recently become a vegetarian, and I really enjoy the vegetarian softshell tacos from TacoTime that are filled with cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and the beans which are almost like a paste on the shell. I would really like to prepare this at home, and was wondering how. All answers appreciated greatly.

  1. Refried beans?  I just buy vegetarian ones in a can. You should double check with that Tacotime to make sure the beans and cheese are indeed vegetarian though.  Many cheeses are made with animal rennet which is not vegetarian and many refried beans are made with animal fat.

  2. if you are referring to refried beans they do make a vegetarian one you can  make one either open up a can of beans  mash them up and fry them in a little soy oil I like the taste of soy oil the one I buy is organic

  3. Isn't it just refried beans?

Thats what I use and sometimes instead I used Morningstar Farms Ground beef. However if you get the normal taco box mix in the store check ingrediants I found that beef BLOOD was used in some sauce. Gross.
