How do you prevent a Kawasaki jet pump from seizing in salt water?

I have a 95 Kawasaki 900zxi and I know there is a common problem with these ski's that if you use them in salt water the ring around the impeller seizes up due to corossion.

Any suggestions on preventing this?

I put a hose into the back of the ski and let it run for 15 mins and then soak it in WD 40.
