  1. Pronounced "bom." The final "b" is silent, just like the third "p" in trippple ;o).

  2. It is BOM, and the B is a "vestige" of the previous generations of speakers.  Maybe it is from Latin - and I do not know.

However,  many words are spelled differently from the pronunciation.

Light used to be said "li-ch-t" and the /gh/ stayed even though the laziness of the lips made it become "lite".

    Funny old English~~~

  3. Funnily enough, it's not a completely silent 'b' at the end.

    Try this

    say Bom

    then say Bomme

    then say bombe.

See how Bomme has a longer sound than Bom, but doesn't have the obvious b at the end like bombe? That's how to pronounce Bomb, with a vry little b at the end to make the word longer.

What is funny is listening to the way different people choose words to 'sound like' Bomb, I can hear their accents :D, And Everyone says it slightly different.

I'm British so of course I think I have it correct, but then people laugh at my accent over here and I can't get served a glass of water (wattuh sir, what's that?), for love nor money.

So everyones right :D yay the world!

    *cough*

Bomb..WAIT, who just said Bomb? Ruuun!!

    ;) Mal.

  4. hello Trippple to answer your question it is "Bomb" even though the final "b" is not pronounced it is still pronounced Bomb. The "mb" makes all the difference. I will give you a website for more information.

  5. Bomb is pronounced like Balm, (silent L in balm) The B is silent. To answer you second question.. I don't know what the B is doing there...

    Hope I helped. :)

  6. Pronounce it "bom". The "b" is silent just like the "k" in knee.
