  1. audio pronunciation here:

    sell-ticks is correct.

But if it's of the Celtic language, the other hard "K" pronunciation is used along with the "sell-tick" pronunciation. (kel′tik; also sel′tik)

  2. No such thing as a plaid skirt. A plaid is a garment, you mean a tartan skirt.

  3. In "Celtic Cross," say  "Kell-Tick."  (That is the proper, educated

pronunciation.)  In "Boston Celtics," say "Sell-Tick."  (That is

    what the team calls itself.)

  4. There's a full paragraph on its pronunciation here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Names_of_th...

  5. kell-tic for celtic cross & Celtic peoples, and cell-tic for Boston Celtics

  6. i would say cell-tic

    hope i helped

  7. We get the word via Greek and Latin.

In Greek and ancient Latin, the pronunciation was a hard keltic. In medieval Latin, the c changed to a soft sound - seltic.

keltic is preferred for the people (music etc), but seltic is not wrong.

Only seltic in the case of the sports teams.

  8. The Boston Celtics is indeed 'sell-tick", but in any use referencing the Celts (angry men in plaid skirts) is more correctly pronounced "keltz"

  9. sel-tics   :]

  10. Sell-Tick

  11. Both ways lol. I normally say "sell-tick" but if its in reference to the celtic knot i usually say "kell tick." Not sure why =)
