  1. I've always pronounded it "Appa-loose-a". I guess there are a lot of different ways you can pronounce it, it just depends on the person.

    Good luck! =]

  2. Since I have 2 of them I say App-A-loose-A, but then again I do have a southern accent.

  3. I pronounce it like

    Appa-loose-a

    ~Sunshine

  4. ahhh - paa- loo- sah

  5. I have always said APPA-LOOSA, well I normaly just say APPY

  6. Ap-pa-loo-saw. :)  That's how I've always pronounced it, as well as hear people pronounce it.

  7. Kevin is a dork :)

    APPLEoosa

  8. Ah-Pa-loo-s-ah

  9. Appa-lose-a

How do you get an appaloosa?

    You shake-a da tree.

You can also just say Appy and that's easier to say.

Edit- Juliane An old Portuguese I knew that was his favorite joke. And I swear on Wild Bills grave, I am not your troll.

  10. Appa-loose-ah

The name originated from the name Palouse (Pal-oos) because of the place they were bred in the USA by the Nez Perce Indians. :)

  11. Apple-ossa hope this helps  :D

  12. Appa-lose-a, I've always said it that way, I've never heard anyone say it another way.

  13. Merriam Webster says what sounds like ABBA-loosa.

    Dictionary Reference sounds like APPA-loosa.

    I would say APPA-loosa.

I guess it depends on the person. You know, the tomato thing.

    ;D

    Hope this helps!

  14. (APP-A-LOOS-A)

  15. The Appaloosa was named for the PALOUSE River i.e. A Palouse horse or in the vernacular of the late 1700's,  Appylucy horse, as in "I got me one o' them appylucy horses".  (Lewis & Clark are credited with the Palouse Horse designation)

There are no B's or 'B' pronuciation in Appaloosa, just as TiPi is NOT spelled with an 'E', as in teepee. The letter 'P' has NEVER been pronounced as a 'B' or vis-a-versa.  Chalk most of the errors up to the white man's lazy tongue.

  16. i say  A-PAW-LOOSE-AH.

if that makes a difference, lol.
