  1. Its "wen"

  2. It is pronounced... New Yen

  3. guwen

  4. [ŋwjěn] in Vietnamese; approximated as /wɪn/ in English

  5. It's: Win.

    Don't ask me why.

  6. First in Vietnamese: Nguyễn. The "ng" is like that in "siNG." The "y" has an "ee" sound. The entire word is monosyllabic (like most Vietnamese words), so it should be said as one single syllable, with a questioning tone indicated by the tilde accent mark "~". Say it as if it is a question--Nguyen?

Now the Anglicized version: Most Westerners pronounce it as "win" or "when" or "gwen." Some even pronounce it as "new-win" though I think this is the most incorrect way since the word should have only one syllable.

  7. it's Win. The reason, i have no clue.

  8. when

  9. it's kind of "win"

    but the tone changes.

    like -^------

i hope yu get wat tat means ;)

  10. I have heard "When" as well as "Noo-yen".

It's a regional thing. First-hand experience trying to speak Vietnamese and the only non-viet kieu in the VN club in H.S. those from Saigon have an accent influenced by Cantonese, English and French than those from smaller cities and the countryside.

I have also attended several Tet (lunar new year) celebrations over the years.

  11. Win

    it's my last name.

  12. Its king of like  Nwen
